Margaret Mead: “… a small group of thoughtful citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has”. There are little things we can do to make our voice heard in the fight against benzodiazepines. Everyone needs to be proactive if there is ever to be the possibility of change. You can write to the FDA 'MedWatch' on line about your
negative benzodiazepine experience. If enough people have a
similar experience with a drug they may put a Black
Box Warning on it. Drugs with this warning get more
precautions and media. If people do not come forth
with their experiences the FDA will never know. There are amendments made to labels and literate if new
findings are found. There was an amendment made to benzodiazepine labels in 2001 regarding
benzodiazepines and the elderly. You can also call the FDA with questions on 1888-463-6332.
