Small Meals

The following are just ideas that some members have found to be especially helpful for dealing with the problems encountered in withdrawal.

"It didn't take me long to notice that if I ate a big meal during withdrawal, my anxiety increased tenfold. My stomach, already a bit cagey, would swell up with a heavy food load, pressing on my diaphragm, constricting its movement and forcing me to breathe from my upper chest. You can sidestep this by doing away with the traditional three square meals a day. Instead, eat six smaller meals, preferably high in protein, throughout the day, or eat healthy snacks to keep your blood sugar up and appetite down at meal times."
